Zombi 2/Zombi Flesh Eaters (1979)

A seemingly deserted ship comes into the harbor and when the coast guard investigates, a very deformed man attacks the men. The owner of the ship is the dad of Ann Bowles but he is not on the ship. She needs to find out what happened and enlists the aid of a newspaper reporter Peter. They go off to the Antilles, specifically off to find Matul Island where her dad was staying a month ago. They enlist the aid of 2 seasoned boaters and off they go. But upon landing on the island, they find themselves surrounded and attacked by Zombies who only want to eat you, alive. They must try to find the dad and they find a way out.
Overall: Not a very good film and the copy in the video stores have probably been poorly dubbed. This is essentially an Italian sequel to “Dawn of the Dead” – that is why it is “part 2” but it is unauthorized and really doesn’t follow the film, except for the zombies. Also despite the fact the film is in English I think the Italians made it in English, dubbed it into Italian and once released back to the U.S., the re-dubbed over it back into English. I saw the “x-rated” version, which really isn’t “X” at all – it is more of an easy “R” but it does have a very explicit eye-gouging scene so beware of that. Comparison: Dead Alive meets Last Resort |
