Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)

          1) Time Out – A middle-aged man who just can’t catch a break feels that everyone else is responsible for that luck. He’s a man who hates everyone else and will soon experience what it is like to be hated.

          2) Kick the Can – Life at a retirement home gets a lot more exciting when an old man shows up, reminding everyone of their youths.

          3) It’s a Good Life – Helen has accidentally hit Anthony with her car. She takes him back home to heal only to realize everyone who visits his house, never leaves.

          4) Nightmare at 20,000 Feet – A man who is scared of flying soon learns that no one wants to hear the truth.

Overall: I enjoyed the movie regardless of the changes to the original episodes. The “Kick the Can” was probably the weakest snippet of the 4, and only because there is little mystery to it. The last one is definitely the best and really established Lithgow as a great actor. What is most well-known of the film was the helicopter crash which resulted in 3 deaths, including Vic Morrow, from the “Time Out” segment. It took 10 years to finish the lawsuits. It wasn’t so much necessarily that they died on set as much as the fact that Landis and the rest were already violating labor laws by paying the young kinds in cash “under the table.” So the deaths became magnified because the question became, was the accident preventable if all the rules were in place…the answer came back: nope.
