Summary: Sidney Prescott hasn’t had a very good year. Her mother was raped and killed almost a year ago. Two of her schoolmates (Casey & Steve) were just killed by some raving maniac who played horror trivia games with them during the terror. Now, it seems that same killer, wearing a ghost outfit, wants to kill her and her first suspect is her boyfriend, Billy Loomis. Sid has been staying with her friend Tatum, and Tatum’s brother, Dewey Riley, who is a police officer. Billy’s arrested but later set free because the police have determined this killer loves to use his cell-phone and it wasn’t Billy’s which was used to call her. She is also starting to have second thoughts on who killed her mom too, because Newswoman Gale Weathers thinks convicted murderer Cotton Weary is really innocent. While Billy was in jail, the killer called again and harassed Sid. The principal is so upset over these events he suspends classes at Woodsboro High, which means it is the perfect time for these students to have a party: at Stew‘s house. With all these people at the party, the killer decides to have one last gasp at killing Sid too - at the party but this killer has grandiose plans and if you make it out of this party alive, you’ll be lucky!
Overall: Easily one of the best horror films ever. It spoofs many of the topnotch films but also adds comedy and suspense to it all. One character spits out the rules to successfully survive a scary movie and this film even spoofs itself but breaking them with every chance it gets. Definitely a plus in horror films and if you haven’t seen this film, you must wonder what planet you are on. And don't you love the poster above? 08/10/07: Watched this on cable tv this week and damn, if it doesn't stay fun and exciting. Seriously, the first 13 minutes might be on the best horror movie openings of all time. Hands down! No question! It's scary, gory and downright violent. When we discover who our killers are, the plot and methods are thought out, researched and just almost no holes here. Great acting but many people who never duplicated their efforts later (ala Skeet Ulrich & Matthew Lilliard). Bottom line, the entire film is always worth watching. Multiple times. Won't same same for the sequels...but the first film. A+ from me! Comparison: Clue meets Halloween |
