Psycho 3 (1986)

Norman Bates is back again and still trying to show how “rehabilitated” he is. But he’s got a few visitors this time in the way of Duke as a drifter looking for a job and Maureen, a disgraced nun, looking for solace. Expecting a big push later in the week, Norman hires Duke to work the counter but even Norman knows Duke isn’t trustworthy. But Norman has bigger problems when the nun tried to commit suicide in the motel and a reporter wants to finish off where the Crane Family left off the last film. “Mother, Mother, what have you done?”

Overall: After watching this film, my opinion of part 2 made me think that film was pretty good. I hate unnecessary sequels but if you have to make one, then “Psycho 2” and “Jason X” are the way to go. Make it a little more realistic and treat the audience as intelligent. This film is a typical 80’s slasher film: unnecessary gore, unnecessary nudity, and bad taste. First 2 films showed Norman as a neat person who happens to be unstable. This film makes him into a necrophiliac slob. Perkins directed himself but his acting wasn’t very good and the film really spent more time on the other actors and less time on him. I liked what the plot did in having Norman feel a “persecution complex” with dead people being reincarnated to get him back but that ending...he seems to end his insanity and then after he’s arrested he turns back to the darkside. Why, oh why? The film would have been better off with the whole religious angle and just left it as a depressed, shy, female drifter and eliminated the whole convent thing, especially since it did nothing for the reporter/Bates confrontation at the end.
