Norman Bates has been released after 20 years and the Bates Motel is once again open for business. But Lila Crane, sister of victim Marion Crane, isn’t gonna let him alone. She seeks to disrupt and harass Norman every step of the way to his recovery but she’s gonna have to deal with a new friend of his, Mary. Mary is a co-worker of his at a diner and the 2 seem to get along real well. But whereas Norman came out of the hospital finally convinced his mother is dead, the moment he gets home the visions start to occur. But all is not well in the house. Soon Norman discovers Mary is really Lila’s daughter and this is a plot to drive Norman crazy. And yet Mary realizes that they aren’t the only ones harassing Norman. There really is someone else in the house!
Overall: The film definitely is an 80’s film. The film aims in on each death scene and really has a graphic one of Lila getting nailed with an axe. Hitchcock probably was rolling over in his grave during the filming of this film. There’s some nudity too, shower scene no less. I think the plot twist was interesting but also cliché. Hollywood always does this with horror films. Think “Scream 3.” I could forever have done without a sequel to the original! Comparison: Friday the 13th Part 5 meets Prophecy 2 |
