Piranha II: The Spawning (1981)

Anne, her son Chris and her separated husband, Steve are all trying to battle a swarm of killer piranha which have the ability to fly. They will try hard to save their town but the government has scores to settle with officious intermeddlers.

Overall: This is widely publicized as “Titanic” director James Cameron’s first film. The film itself isn’t very good. So much nudity and stupid characters bog the film down. However it is a nice insight into how Cameron goes about filming “The Abyss” and “Titanic” Whatever he learned in this film, he was able to improve on for future films. And he’s since directed documentaries in investigating the ships Titanic and Bismarck. The film is just “ok”, that is until the piranha start to fly - that finished me off for not only believability but just for sheer absurdity. And how exactly do flying piranha drag bodies backwards? I mean is this not yet again a copy of “Jaws?” Is this also not basically the same story was "Barracuda," "Octopus," "Crocodile," “Alligator," or "Orca"???? Skip this film.

Comparison: Jaws meets a goldfish tank
