Mimic 3: Sentinel (2003)

Marvin is confined to his New York apartment and he spends his time looking out of the window observing the neighbors. He begins to suspect that the man opposite may have murdered some of his neighbors. With the help of a friend, he will do all he can to unravel this mystery.

Overall: If you’re a Hitchcock fan you’ll realize all I did was describe “Rear Window.” That’s exactly what this film is: Rear window with a big bug. The movie is such a rip-off, this may set a new record for most blatant rip-off of a previous movie. I think JT Petty (the writer & director) needs to be ashamed for what got released. No originality to the movie. The bugs are more simply in the film to push the idea this movie is related to “The Mimic” series and away from the fact JT was simply remaking “Rear Window.” I’ll give JT the respect for some nice cinematography but the violin music got painful to listen to. I enjoyed the appearance of Lance Henrikson but I’m not gullible enough to rent a film solely for Lance. There is no discussion on why the bugs survived the prior 2 films, nor why they didn’t die the first time but Martin is killing them this time. I rented this based on the title…don’t make the same mistake. That’s why I run a site like this - prevent you from spending money on crap. Go donate your money to “The Red Cross.”
