Interview with Jocelin Donahue

- Jocelin Donahue has appeared in a few movies, including "House of the Devil". Anyone looking for more info on Jocelin or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page.

Q: Jocelin , can you explain how you first got into the movie business?

A: It was sorta haphazard. I was going to NYU for history and sociology. I got into Fashion which led to modeling which led to commercials and then led to movies.

Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "House of the Devil"?

A: I play "Samantha." She's a typical college student in the 80's. She's very relatable.

Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.

A: I'm very proud of the film. It's very different than the typical films. It was fun and I think it changes the idea of the typical horror film.

Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?

A: I think the scene involving the "satanic ritual." It was different, intense. A complete 180 from the rest of the film and my scenes. I was all alone there. Although it's "fake", it was still intense. I was really tied up.

Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?

A: I had faith from the very beginning when I met Ti. It was a heartfelt story, there was sincerity to it. It had an 80's feel. It's a period piece but has style.

Q: Looking back, I see that you’ve also appeared in a few films. Can you tell me a little about each film and your experience with it? First ”The Burrowers”?

A: This was a film I worked on with JT Petty. This was also a "period piece" horror film. It was the 1890's, it has older feel to it but it's very serious and sincere.

Q: How about "Roman Candles"?

A: It was just a small independent film. I had fun doing it.

Q: What's next for you? Can you tell me what you have going on in 2009?

A: I'm always out there. I'm open to anything but I'm not sure what's next for me.

Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?

A: I really like working on independent films. It definitely was fun and he's very much like Van Zant. I also would like to work with Paul Thomas Anderson.

Q: What do you look for when picking projects?

A: I like it when the writer and director are the same, when they have a dual role. It makes it more personal, because then they know what they want for their roles since they also wrote it.

Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?

A: I like painting, especially with Water-Colors. I also do a lot of cooking.

Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?

A: Wow, well I watched so many to do research for this role. I think "Let the Right One in." But i think for 80's movies, it would be "The Changeling." I used that to help prepare for this role. That was very creepy.

Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
