Jeepers Creepers (2001)

Darry and Patricia are a brother/sister tag-team combo on route to their home from college. But they’ve decided to take the long way home and it’s gonna cost them. Seems while driving by a church they see a person dropping bodies into a pipe. They go to investigate after the maniac tries to run them off the road. But getting deeper into this mystery only ensures their own fate, because while trying to report this to the cops, they get a call from a psychic lady who can see the future. It is after the cops get involved than their corpse lover decides to get closer to the siblings. But it gets even worse when the psychic lady tries to save them at the police station and only helps seal their fate.
Overall: The story is probably the most obvious for a sequel than any film before it. The story screams sequel mainly because it is so chock full of holes. It explains nothing of the psychic lady and why she sees what she does, nothing of the creature and why it is who it is and does what it does and nothing about how to stop it. See, when u watch the ending and it’s anti- climatic-ness, you’ll realize that the film has done nothing to illuminate you as to what motivated the producers. I mean, the film is nice and scary but the story leaves a lot to be desired. In today’s society, horror sequels are plentiful so I do await the sequel – hell, can u really name any horror film without a sequel? But by itself, the film’s overall story is weak. I loved the car drama at the beginning - it's good stuff, great angles, nice cinematography. I liked the ending as I thought it went well with the plot and film's focus. But there is so little about the creeper, that it cries for a sequel and I had hoped it would not. 02/2002 I wrote the above after seeing it in theatres and this week I bought the DVD. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film and especially the ending. After viewing the xtras, the film is better off without the deleted/extended scenes. The alternate ending is good and kind of weird but the actual ending was much, much better. It was scarier and more powerful. Comparison: Duel meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers |
