Chief Brody is back at Amity and this summer, we have more shark sightings. But the residents of this town don’t want to hear it. They want the sharks to go away but Brody knows that ignoring them won’t help. Well actually one day Brody’s paranoia gets the best of him and after making a massive scene on the beach firing shots into the water, he’s removed from his job. That’s exactly what the shark was waiting for and it goes in for the kill!
Overall: This film just didn’t do much for me. I thought it just spent way too much time with the young people boating, sailing and drinking and not enough time with Brody or even the shark. It really seemed to be a disjointed film in that regard and although the shark attacks were better, they seemed too few and far between. And basically it’s just not scary. The music, the point of view shots...it just didn’t do much for me. I will say that the film would have been better with most of the deleted scenes. The DVD offers 3 of them and basically the missing footage of Chief Brody getting fired as well as the interaction between Brody’s wife and the Peterson were important. The underwater shark attack on the helicopter pilot was nice and would have helped close a few holes too. Comparison: Jaws meets Friday the 13th |
