5 young adults are off to an island Rave but are a bit late today. So they hire a boat to take them to the island and upon arrival, realize no one else is there. Soon they figure out the party customers were attacked by zombies and became the un-dead themselves and our 5 heroes will become the food for our new evil doers.
Overall: This was a bad film. We have "Matrix"/"Swordfish" action special effects mixed with scenes from the actual "House of the Dead" video game. This is all so highly inappropriate and just doesn’t make for a good film. Too much chasing, too much 360 degree camera shots...too much non-horror elements. And the editing was pathetic – it rains on the island and yet much of the island doesn’t even get wet. The springboard the zombies use to catapult towards the good guys, can be observed in one scene. And what is with the actors and actresses magically just happening to know every martial arts move ever created. It’s a bad film that makes little sense. I will say that had the director eliminated the stupid video game transition scenes & gotten some impartial observers to given constructive criticism, then maybe it could have been better. I really liked the action shots but they were not appropriate for a horror film. The movie really wanted to capitalize on the popularity of “Resident Evil” but it didn’t have either the story or the actors to get the job done. And frankly, the zombies looked worse than in “Zombie Lake”. Comparison: Zombie Lake meets Survival Island |
