Nelson Wright persuades four of his friends to help in an experiment: find the secrets of the afterlife and then live to tell about it. It involves stopping his heart and then restarting it thirty seconds later, leaving him clinically dead. The experiment is a success, and the others wish to join in. But what none of them realize is that in doing so each of them bring back with them the sins of their past. And these sins start to hurt. Question is...how to they stop it?
Overall: This was a good film with a big-name cast but moderately decent performances. The cast gets you to watch the film and the story and ideas keep you from turning it off. If my summary had boiled it down to “5 people decide one by one to kill each other and then come back to life”...would you watch it? I toss in names such as “Julia Roberts,” “Kiefer Sutherland” and “Kevin Bacon” does that help? Really the film gives itself too little credit for its plot. There are some really good ideas in this film and it’s so worth a watching. Comparison: Gross Anatomy meets Altered States |
