The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

After Janet accepts Brad's marriage proposal, the happy couple drive away from the wedding chapel only to get lost in the rain. They stumble upon the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite who is holding the annual convention of visitors from the planet Transsexual. Frank-N-Furter unveils his creation, a young man named Rocky Horror, who fears the doctor and rejects his sexual advances. Now the good Doctor will turn his pent-up frustrations on everyone in his castle and it won’t be pretty.

Overall: Frankly, you should all know the story of the film by now, but I’ll recap anyway. This is a terrible film – it’s truly awful and frankly, it shouldn’t even be viewed unless you are seeing this in a theater with hundreds of others. If you rent this for yourself or watch it on tv...I say “don’t bother.” This is truly an “audience participation” film and can only be truly enjoyed in a big setting. Again, it’s a terrible film than makes little sense but this is a fun experience when done properly.

So it gets released to theaters and bombs seriously in 1975...so some Fox executive decides to try making money by making fun of the film in midnight showings. Years later, it becomes a cult classic and a must see. I first caught these in 1989 and did this 4 times myself. It’s an awesome time that really lets you enjoy the film in all its hilarity. It’s a jump to the left... (see video below)
