A Bucket of Blood (1959)

Walter Paisley is a busboy at a Beatnik club. Everyone seems important and knowledgeable and all Walter wants to do is fit in. Not until he accidentally kills his landlords cat and covers it with clay, will anyone take him seriously. They see the cat as such an exquisite sculpture not realizing it is a dead animal with clay fur. Walter starts to live his dream as everyone praises him. But Walter knows that his only talent lies with death and to keep the praise coming, he knows what he has to do.

Overall: This is quite an interesting movie that pokes fun at all those “uppity-ups” who think they are better than everyone else. Also, watching this film almost 50 years later, gives me a good peak into Beatnik society. I did wonder though whether or not those in the ”Revolution” card at how they were portrayed but years later both their culture and the poked-fun at it, is quite interesting. The effects aren’t very good – Maxwell’s beard is totally fake, although his acting was quite good. Dick Miller was great too but that cat was clearer not. It’s a decent movie, even for its time. I’d say, go ahead and check this one out. The acting is fairly decent even if the cat was absolutely fake.
