Jacob's Ladder (1990)

Jacob is a NY city postal worker who is struggling with reality as sorts of creatures and vivid hallucinations slowly rip his head apart. Although his girlfriend is trying to keep him sane, Jacob is coming to grips that something is very wrong and his tour in Vietnam may have something to do with it. However, he may not live long enough to find out what the cause really is.

Overall: This is one of my favorite films of all-time. Great effects, great story and frankly, I love the twists. And the scene where Jacob meets with the psychic lady who checks his lifeline (on his palm) was a powerful scene. Talk about freaking someone out, huh? I really liked the performance by Danny Aiello too and his role in Jacob’s life. Great cast overall: Eriq LaSalle, Ving Rhames, Jason Alexander, and Macauley Culkin. The story really is unique and once it ends, you will understand the key...or you can read the quote from Aiello’s character:

The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and...you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth
