Mountaintop Motel Massacre (1986)

Evelyn has left the insane asylum and taken back up where she left off, running a motel. She starts off by killing her daughter and then goes after everyone else who decides to stay there. Once the Sheriff comes for a visit, Evelyn has her hands full.
Overall: This film was just way too slow and not very interesting. There’s no true “fleshing out” of Evelyn’s character so you never really knew what she was up to or why. At least with “Psycho” you had an idea with the whole mother storyline but here the lady just starts killing people. Plus the film is slow in that she kills some people immediately and others she slowly tortures them. Then we get a bit of “American Idol” with some guy claiming to be a record producer in order to seduce 2 girls have his age into bed, at the same time. It’s really a silly film that tries if anything to be a good prequel to “Identity” and fails. And that ending? That’s the sort of ending where you think “Damn, why did I just bother watching 90 minutes for you to go and pull that crap.” Comparison: Psycho meets Identity |
