Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

Dave is a police officer still not over the fact his ex-girlfriend is dating some other guy but when space aliens have landed and threaten to wipe out the whole town, Dave must put his feelings aside and save the world. Seems these aliens look like clowns, wrap their victims in cotton candy and even perform clown tricks to lure humans to their deaths. Dave and his friends must do anything they can to save Debbie and the rest of the town.

Overall: Well I thought this film has some really good ideas. The story was generally weak. The “who’s” and “what’s” of the aliens go completely unexplained and by the end you wonder who was trying to save the town, the keystone kops? After catching the deleted scenes, the first one where Debbie tells of her childhood scares with clowns would have been nice but just that wouldn’t have improved the plot. The tightrope scene too could have been cool but obviously what we see is very weak and incomplete in the form we saw it. However some of the little clownish intricacies were definitely amusing: balloon dog, popcorn babies, the biker scene & the trampoline for Debbie. Can’t watch this film for anything (including the ending) to make any sense. There are more than enough plot holes to drive a circus car through. However the film is watchable for a good laugh and a few good hearty “that was clever” utterances.
