Doom Asylum (1987)

It has been 10 years since Kiki’s dad died in a car accident – or did he? Seems that after he did with his wife in tow, his body was brought to a nearby Sanitarium where soon after, all the patients and staff met brutal deaths. Since then, every visiting group of teenagers and campers also met similar fates and everyone dying by way of autopsy tools. So now Kiki is back to see what happened 10 years past and brings her boyfriend Mike, and friends Darrell, Jane, and Dennis. But once they arrive they find a hard-core rock band of female rockers. The groups soon get into fights with each other, while a mysterious killer also helps thin the numbers out. Soon Kiki will be the only one left to fight the last battle. But can she stop her dad?

Overall: Brutally cheesy film that really loves to spoof other films. The boyfriend wants Kiki to call him “mom” to replace the mom she never had. Dennis is the “Forrest Gump” wanna-be and even the rockers enjoy thinking of their boyfriends long-after they are dead. If you see the film, that sentence will make sense. The film isn’t very entertaining except to see how bad the effects and acting is – isn’t on the level as "Troll 2" for poor taste but gets close. Gotta love Dennis getting a drill in his head – considering the whole event seems slow-motion. Stars Patty Mullen, Penthouse Pet of the Year and Playmate Ruth Collins. Finally, the only reason to see this film is for "Sex and the City’s” Kristin Davis. She plays Jane and spends the entire film with big glasses and a one-piece bathing suit, weighing a good 40 lbs. higher than she currently is. But was interesting to see her earlier work.

Comparison: The Coroner meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre
