We begin with the ending of part 4 with Michael Myers being shot to "death" and falling into a well, and then an explosion. The camera then focuses on the back end of the shaft, as Michael crawls out before the explosion and jumps into the stream nearby. He takes shelter with an old man and essentially goes into another coma. He wakes up a year later (1989) and starts his pursuit again. Jamie Lloyd has now being interred into a psychiatric hospital, since at the end of part 4 she had killed her mother via the same route Michael killed his sister in 1963 - dressed as clown and using a knife to stab her foster mom to death. But Jamie has lost the gift of speech and can only write out her thoughts. But now she has an even greater connection to Michael - she sees what he does and she even tends to act out some parts. Michael knows all this and he realizes
he can find his long lost niece. Loomis is still back and he of course must not stop till Michael is destroyed. Loomis wants to set a trap and uses the old Myers' home for this. But Loomis, be careful for what you wish for - you might just get it. On the way there Michael doesn't mind stopping at some Halloween parties and giving out his own "treats."
Overall: Better than the prior one but why the old man at the stream takes care of Myers for a year bothers me. I do like the fact that each film tries to keep the same actors in the same roles, for it sure shows it has stability and a continuous story that "Nightmare on Elm St." and "Friday the 13th" can't match. Death Count: 13 (had risen as each film went by until now - first drop for the series). Comparison: Coma meets Urban Legend |
