Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers (1988)

- written April 1999

The film starts us off 10 years later - 1988 - with the end of part 2, through the words of doctors. Seems a few psychiatrists wish to transfer Michael Myers from one hospital to the other - he's been in a coma. Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis were burned 10 years ago and many think Loomis is dead. Michael finds out that a relative of his is still alive and wants out. The relative is the daughter of Laurie Strode, whom the film claims died (part 2) and she has a child from her alive. As the doctors are transferring Michael, he escapes and then makes his way to Haddonfield. Laurie's daughter, Jamie Lloyd, is living with foster parents now but seems to always get in the way when her older step-sister has a date. Loomis is alive though and when he finds out the plan was to transfer Michael and now he's escaped the good doctor is back on pursuit. They end up meeting face to face at a gas station but Michael knows he has bigger and more important fish to fry. Jamie is ready to trick or treat on Halloween but senses Michael is out for her. She dresses up in an outfit very similar to Michael's from 1963 (the clown costume) and is ready. But so is Michael and the final battle will be in the local sheriff's home. But when Michael gets the city's power shut off, even in the dark, no one is safe.

Overall: Probably the 2nd weakest of the 7 Michael Myers films (again, part 3 doesn't count). He's been shot, burned, and drowned but still alive, eh? Gotta love the ending to this film though. But how did you get the daughter of Laurie Strode bit? She "died" in part 2 and happened to leave an un-conceived daughter out there. Hell, in part 1 it almost seemed as if she was a virgin. And if she did die in part 2, then how did she conceive a virgin birth overnight? Death Count = 14
