The government’s secret military research project to infect humans and make them super-powerful soldiers has finally been shut down. However the remaining “victim” is still loose and now has made it to a small town where he can wreck havoc like never before. 3 high schoolers may be mankind’s only hope, if our bungling military doesn’t get in the way first.
Overall: Well the back cover of the video should give you an idea of what you are in for: laughs. The movie doesn’t take itself seriously and the entire plot is based more on one-liners and laughs than on an intelligent story. The story has been done millions of times before: creating the ultimate military weapon. Anything with Robert Vaughn and Rich Hall should indicate laughs are gonna pop up. But what truly bummed me out wasn’t the jokes but the callousness of re-writing the CHUDs and turning them into zombies. In the first film, CHUDs were human beings who had been mutated by radioactive waste and fed on human flesh. Now they are vampirish zombies who only have to bite you to change you, don’t feed on anything, are the “un-dead,” and can’t think for themselves (think “Dead Alive”). The make-up and outfits are like watching Jim Carrey in “Once Bitten.” The ending is similar to “Gremlins 2”: submersing all of the bad guys in water and then electrocuting them. Overall, fans of the first one will be very disappointed. The comedy doesn’t bother me as much (think “House 2”) s the fact they completely recreated the CHUDs.
