Overall: What made the first film great is probably the reason the sequel wasn’t as good. The first film had our hero suffering from issues for years, long before he discovered his time traveling abilities. This film ash them coincide only with his recovery. So it’s tough to buy his abilities since he discovers them so soon and figures out the tricks quite quickly. What made the first one so good was that every jump he made was so difficult and challenging. In addition, the first film, you really rooted for the characters to all have a good life, a good ending. This film, there’s nothing particularly appealing about anything. It’s basically having us try and root for some wanna-be CEO/entrepreneur. Sort of a “who cares” what happens sort of story. It’s a decent film...but nothing near the greatness of the first film. Comparison: Butterfly Effect meets Disclosure |
