- Bianca Barnett is the star of many movies, including "Albino Farm." Anyone looking for more info on Bianca or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page or her myspace page or her official website.
Q: Hi Bianca, Glad to have you back again. Without giving too much away for later questions, what have you been up to since we last talked (Sept 2008)?
A: Thank you for having me! Wow, has it been that long already? Well, I have two films that are due out for release fall 2009, a personal video blog, and I am enrolled full-time in college.
Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "In a Spiral State"?
A: I play a drug addled model named Marlena, but that's all I can tell you. I never saw a script because Ramzi wanted to keep the film a mystery. My scenes were completely improvised which made for a very interesting experience! I would love to work with Ramzi again in the future as we have collaborated on many projects all ready.
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Director Ramzi Abed says, "It's a story about drug addiction, organ thieves, loneliness, chaos theory, Kabbalah, meditation, writing, and love. Everyone is connected. Chaos is not a theory." The official trailer should be available very soon, so keep checking back !
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Costume was provided, but I wish I had a make-up artist and hair stylist! That's an indie film for you, though. In a way, my look worked because I didn't look "perfect", but more like a woman who was on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Lines weren't a problem because everything was ad-libbed. Basically, Ramzi gives us the jist of what he wants to be discussed in the scene and we are free to play. That's what makes working with him so fun and easy- no stress about screwing up your lines.
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: Whenever I am working on a film, I never know how it will end up. The final product really depends on so many factors that are out of my control. All I can do is my personal best and hope that everything else will fall in place. The problem is, I hate watching my performances and I completely tear myself and my performance apart. I'm hoping that I can overcome that in the future.
Q: I see that you’ve also worked on other films recently. Can you tell me a little about each one and your experience with it? First, “For Rent”?
A: Well, "For Rent" never came to be! I get crushed when a project doesn't come to fruition, but that's just part of this industry. I'm hoping that the release of "Albino Farm" and "In a Spiral State" will lead to bigger projects for me.
Q: How are things looking for the “Abino Farm” release? Tell me more about it and what excites you about the release!
A:
"Albino Farm" will finally be released in fall 2009! The official website has a trailer, photos, blog, and more, so please come by and support the film. http://www.albinofarmthemovie.com/. The cast includes Chris Jericho, Richard Christy (Howard Stern Show), Duane Whitaker (Pulp Fiction) and many more!
Q: Tell me about some of the short films you’ve been making, such as “Bunny Time Cupcakes.”
A: "Bunny Time Cupcakes" was the brain child of my boyfriend, Jason Barnett. I'm game for wearing elaborate prosthetic makeup, so I am his little FX guinea pig. I played both roles in the short, which was challenging, but I trusted his vision. We ended up winning second place in Chiller TV's Dare 2 Direct contest last year.
Q: And you’ve done some “Music Videos” too? Which ones, and what’s that like, compared to movies and short films?
A: Oh, the best video I've done is definitely The Rocketz "Killing" video, directed by Xandy Smith. It is a real work of art, completely gorgeous! Unfortunately, I was sick with the flu the day of the shoot, but everyone took care of me, even running out to buy me some medicine! I played a "vampy burlesque girl" and was made up very sexy- it was a quite a hot shoot. I would love to work with Xandy and crew again. There isn't much difference between shooting a movie and a music video. Expect to be on set for twelve (or more) hours, stay professional and always be ready to work. There are always delays and hang ups, no matter the budget.
Q: What's next for you? What else does 2009 hold for you?
A: I'm in school full-time working for a Bachelor of Science in nursing but I'm also taking acting classes. I have done so many films over the past three years and they are finally starting to get released. I'm hoping that these films will reach a broader audience and open up opportunities for me.
Q: Tell me about those “Bianca Barnett” trading cards. When did you realize you’d have your own? How do I get one?
A: Honestly, the trading cards were a complete surprise. I still can't believe that I am considered a scream queen this early in my career. It's such an honor for a horror geek like me! There are two styles, both beautifully printed by Terror Cards (Necroscope LLC), personally autographed and dual-sided (features my mini-bio on the back). Each order comes with an autographed note card with lipstick kiss. Because there is a limited number available, they won't last long, so get them while they’re hot! - http://biancabarnett.com/blog/?p=202.
Q: Finally...I asked you before and I’ll do it a again, but more updated. What’s the best horror movie you have watched in the last few months? It would be what?
A:"Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In)" is the best modern horror film I've seen in quite some time. I've heard they are remaking it for America, so we'll see how that ends up. I love retro horror films and generally watch a few every week. Maybe I should start doing my own movie reviews one day!
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
A: Thank you so much for having me! Please keep in touch! I hope your readers will check out my website, http://www.biancabarnett.com and my myspace profile, http://www.myspace.com/biancaabel.
