Q: Ms. Rhey, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?
A: My very, very first day in "the business" was as an extra on "Fantasy Island".
Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "Cannibal Taboo"?
A: I played a Cannibal named Janet who was born in the jungle and raised by Cannibals before she ended up in mainstream America. Unbeknownst to her family she brought her Cannibalistic upbringing with her to the states.
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: I thought Cannibal Taboo would have been more fun if it had been done as a 'spoof' or 'satire' of the genre. Ya know, campy… uh, I prefer comedy :-)
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Dragging my husband down the balcony was a little difficult for me, guess I'm a bit of a wimpy girl.
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: Ha ha… that's funny! I NEVER have a preconceived idea of how a movie should work out; I just stay focused on being in the moment as the character. The main people who focus on the outcome are the director and producer. There are also many other people doing so many jobs that affect the final product I really don't know how any one could have a hard idea of how a movie is going to work out.
Q: I see that you’ve also appeared in other films. Can you tell me a little about each one and your experience with it? First, “Witchcraft VII”?
A: The thing I remember most about "Witchraft VII" was the fake blood. It was my first time working with it and it tasted terrible!
2) How about “Demon Lover”?
A: That was my very first large role, it was so exciting! That was the first time I worked with Mike Tristano and the second time I got to work with Joe Estevez.
3) How about “Bikini Drive-In”?
A: Bikini Drive in was a blast to shoot. The other thing that has stuck with me is… the last night of the shoot; I went home (late), went to sleep (later) and was woken by the Northridge earthquake at 4:30 am.
4) And finally, “Clowning Around”?
A: One of my absolutely most favorite roles ever!!! The heart of a clown is a wonderful thing to experience.
Q: I see that you currently are working on “Daisy Power” and your stand-up comedy. Please tell me how that’s going and how you got started doing that?
A: It's going great, I love comedy!!! How I got started is an interview in itself :-)
Q: What's next for you? Can you tell me what you have going on in 2009?
A:
I am doing more standing up, shooting a small part in "Texas Frightmare Massacre" where I play myself, I hope to do more "Daisy Power" and more everything!
Q: Are there certain films you enjoy doing? You’ve appeared in some films with horror elements in them, but others tend to be diverse and just look like you’re out to have some fun. What do you look for when picking films?
A: LOL :-) Even the "A list" actors "pick" (so to speak) films just to be employed. We all just want to work and pay our bills. It will be great when I have so much work thrown at me that I am turning stuff down because I am "choosing" the better paychecks and the preferred roles!
Q: You’ve appeared in a few films, but have also done some theatre, tv and even some commercials, correct? Can you tell us where we may have seen you in those various projects?
A: The best place to get this information is on my IMDB listing:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722269/
Almost everything is on there… check the 'other work' link to see the commercials and theater stuff.
Q: If you could choose only one type of art (theatre, stand-up comedy, films, etc) to continue working on, what would you choose?
A: A sitcom.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: I wish I could sing or dance, I have a tin ear and the rhythm of a stone.
Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?
A: I saw Friday the 13th at the theater. Horror fans have probably seen WAY more scary movies than I have.
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
A: Thank YOU very much for inviting me!!! Now go watch "Daisy Power": www.daisypower.com
